DATA POINTS: Touchscreen Adoption Skyrockets; Tidal Wave of Android Apps Approaching; Mobile Coupon Redemption Rising
TOUCHSCREEN DEVICE SALES IN THE U.S. ROSE 159 PERCENT OVER THE PAST YEAR, says Comscore, with the growth outpacing that of smartphone sales, which rose “just” 63 percent. The company says there were about 23.8 million touchscreen devices in use in the US at the end of August, and about 33.8 million smartphones.

It's a social recommendation service in the same vein as Yelp - letting users post their own reviews and location information for either places (like restaurants) or events (like gigs). Target follows up on its mobile coupon promise Back in early February, GoMo News reported that massive retail chain Target planned on launching a loyalty coupon system for mobile devices (see our report here). And now Target has followed through, and the service is live.
