The BBC's iPlayer Officially Available for Nokia N95 and Other S60 FP1 Devices
As you may or may not know, BBC has recently released their iPlayer exclusively for Nokia S60 FP2 device which allows you to watch many of the BBC shows on the web. Unfortunately, BBC does not allow users outside the UK to watch these shows so I can't even test it but according to post over at forum section (10X Voodoomox) BBC's on-demand TV service is now officially available for an old...

Over at Nokia Creative, James Burland has posted a video showing the BBC iPlayer in action, on an N95 8GB. Much-vaunted as coming to the N96, iPlayer actually works (in the UK) on other devices too. James walks us through the process of finding and playing a show, and whilst he says it wouldn’t be great

In the vernacular of the time.... OMG. The BBC has just apparently enabled its iPlayer widget for the Nokia N95 (and similar devices, presumably, watch the comments through the morning). iPlayer lets UK users catch up on BBC programmes that have been broadcast in the last week or so and has previously been exclusive to the Nokia N85, N96 and 5800. Note that the N95 doesn't contain the DRM nee...

Reading the post by Anthony Rose on the availability of the BBC iPlayer for the iPhone it would be safe to assume that it will be made available for the Nokia N95 soon.Anthony describes the basic concept behind the scenes which would allow the BBC iPlayer to be made available to various other platforms and devices. The solution would be to divide devices into two different categories; those that i

Why am I featuring a new iPhone web application on a Nokia blog? Because there is a good chance that the Nokia N95 will be next..."First up, we can divide portable and gaming devices into those that include a web browser (iPhone, Nintendo Wii, Nokia N95, etc) and those that don't (Apple TV, Xbox, most mobile phones, most home media servers, etc)."The above is a quote from Anthony Rose on the BBC I

Video: BBC iPlayer for Nseries, Live at Last! BBC iPlayer for Nseries went live today (1.10.08). It’s a Nokia Web Runtime widget which seems to work with a number of Nokia devices including the N95 8GB and 6220 Classic.Rather than write page after page describing the quality and functionality of iPlayer for Nseries, I thought it would be much more pleasing to actually show you.In this video I’ve chosen to demonstrate iPlayer runni...

BBC Iplayer for Symbian s60v3 & v5 BBC iPlayer is an application which allows users to download or stream live TV and radio programmes from bbc.co.uk to their mobile phones. BBC iPlayer is only available in the UK. The two zip files contain versions for S60v3 and S60v5 (e.g. Nokia 5800). This S60v3 version is a .sis file, and not a .jar like the older versions and works without problems on the N95, however they labeled it v. 1.00 f...

The UK's Gadget Show remains a respected review source, even if they don't go into quite the tech detail that AAS does... in the latest Web TV episode, Jon Bentley goes into reasonable detail on the Nokia N96, covering the improvements over the N95 while also being disappointed by the slow speed overall, by the poor Wi-Fi reception and by the lack-lustre BBC iPlayer.
