The 3G iPhone launch has media outlets the world over buzzing over what the next-generation iPhone will look like and where it will be launched. In theory, everyone in the U.S. who has an iPhone is an AT&T customer, as this telecom has an exclusive contract with Apple. In reality, more than one-quarter of iPhones have been unlocked so that they can be used with other telecoms.

Despite the best efforts of AT&T and Apple, the iPhone 3G has been unlocked.
