Nokia Still Has Cameras On The Brain
With the Nokia N82, most fanboys have assumed that Nokia has given up on cameraphones. The Nokia N86 8MP is coming soon, but without a Xenon flash, most of you have said you’ll be holding onto your N82s, despite the updated camera hardware and software on the N86 8MP. Charlie Schick, over at Nokia Conversations,

Nokia N86 8MP Getting More Innovative With Face Detection To further bolster my argument that the Nokia N86 8MP is the single most innovative Nseries handset to hit the market since the N82 and its Xenon flash, the gang at AllAboutSymbian have scored some screenshots showing that this true Nseries flagship will be getting face detection software in a future firmware update. The feature

I can't imagine why I haven't done this exact same head to head, but AAS-favourite Rita el-Khoury has taken the time to pitch the cameras in the Nokia N82 and N86 8MP directly against each other, concluding that the N86 is a viable replacement, despite the lack of Xenon flash.

James Burland from Nokia Creative has been putting the N86 (from Steve Litchfield) under a few tests. In his latest post, he checks out extreme low light performance using the built in Dual LED flash (which Nokia claims is “70% more powerful than previous Dual LED solutions”), and compares it with: the might Xenon of the

As the Nokia N86 8MP handset doesn’t feature a Xenon flash unlike the Nokia N82, Nokia has released a statement claiming the Nokia N86 doesn’t require a Xenon unit to make good low light pictures. According to an article on conversations.nokia.com, capturing low light images is something the Nokia N86 does with some skill and sport

N86: Day 3. Go Flash Go! What does the lack of Xenon flash mean for the Nokia N86 8MP? Witness this classic shootout, N86 versus N82, N97 and Samsung i8910 HD.How does the LED flash of the N86 compare to the Xenon flash of the N82 in identical circumstances? Nokia N86, N82, N97 Still Image Comparison When I first heard about the Nokia N86s powerful imaging capabilities, the first thing I wanted to compare it with was Nokias best imaging flagship, the Nokia N82. I had been a fan of the N82s Xenon flash and great image output for around 2 years, and was ready to move to the next chapter

It may not have Xenon flash, but the Nokia N86 8MP does have a camera with the next level of performance: a variable aperture (letting in up to four times the light). In theory, this means that it will cope much better in low light situations without needing to use flash at all. Using photos from the latest N96 8MP prototype and comparing them to those from the current imaging king, the N82, I exp...

It may be ancient by 2009 standards, but it's still a very powerful beast. I'm talking about the Nokia N82, with accelerated graphics and Xenon flash. And it's the subject of a lengthy and passionate essay by Eric of Eric's Corner. Well worth a read - it's a classic phone in many ways, even if it has been eclipsed in recent times by the equally camera-centric N86 (which wa...
