Twitter360 (App Store $2.99 $.99) was released earlier this week but we've just had a chance to play with it. It does work- if your friends have been Twittering recently and have enabled Geotags on their tweets. The Google Maps functionality is often more useful - especially if you have friends not in the neighborhood. Augmented reality is geting pretty hot lately, no?
