Nokia Creative Announces Autumn 2008 Photo Winners One of my favorite online awards is the Nokia Creative N95 Photo Awards. As I still use my N95-3 daily, I’m constantly amazed at the quality of photos that this contest shows off. The Nokia N95 User Group on Flickr is maintained by none other than James Burland, of Nokia Creative. All of the group

Jonny Bruha brings us his considered thoughts on the N96, and after a few days of rigorous testing, he has plenty of thoughts to share. He starts of by saying the materials feel a bit ‘plasticky’, but does feel more ‘solid’ than the N95-3 when the slider is open (and he says that has no play

Nokia N85 NAM Shoots Through FCC The biggest news of the morning is that of the Nokia N85 NAM sliding through the FCC’s approval process. This is the phone that will replace my aging N95-3, and while the Euro version is already out, I’ve mostly decided to hold out until the NAM version hits the market, for full US 3G support.

Traveling With The Guru - Share Online FAIL One of the tools I’d hoped to use the most on my trip is Share Online, on my trusty Nokia N95-3. I made sure to have the latest version loaded up on my phone, and I have my Calitrip2008 channel set as the default - to make things super-easy. Unfortunately, Share Online sucks, plain and

Ricky Cadden, everyone’s Symbian Guru, is about to hit the road for a week and seems well stocked with devices and apps. He’s set himself up with a Boingo account to sort his WiFi access, and has Nokia Email on three devices – the E71, N95-3 and N96. He’s a big fan of the service, saying

Should Themes Do More To Your Device? This weekend I received the 21 entries for the SymbianPlanet Themes Factor contest, installed them all (using AutoSisInstaller, naturally) to my N95-3, and then scored them each on a number of aspects. The final results will be published on SymbianPlanet soon, but that’s not really what I wanted to explore. I was having a chat

Star Wars Forces Its Way Onto N-Gage For those of you who love your N-Gage (I’m far too frustrated with it, and actually had to install the application onto my N95-3 in order to take the screenshots for this post), you’ll be excited to know that yet another game has been made available - the much-anticipated Star Wars: The Force Unleashed Mobile.

Sandisk Ultra 8GB MicroSD - Better? When I told Darla Mack I was buying an 8GB microSD card to use with my N95-3, she suggested that I not. She told me that hers slowed the phone down dramatically, and that it wasn’t worth the extra 2GB I would be getting over my current 6GB microSD card. Poppycock, I said! They’re both

Nokia’s Download! App Moving Backwards One thing that I like to do once a week or so is refresh the Download! application on whatever phone I’m using (lately the N95-3) to see if they’ve added any applications that may be interesting. I’m actually rather impressed with the number of applications now available, even on the N95-3, which is a U.S.
