By now you’ll have spotted the impact that Google Buzz has had on the web; but I was struck by something that had flown past my browser on Monday. Google announces Buzz: Twitter/Facebook for Gmail Section: Communications, Mobile, Web, Web Apps, Google With Twitter and Facebook being in many ways the most popular and used websites out there, it makes sense that Google would try to get into the competition.  Google tried once before by buying Jaiku, which was a Twitter-like service that later died.  Now Google looks to try using what it already has in place to push Buzz to as many p...

In the flurry of Google announcements yesterday, one story made it through the cracks: real-time search results for Android and iPhone. In short, Google (NSDQ: GOOG) is including a little ticker in searches for hot, current topics that includes super-recent content from blogs, Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, FriendFeed, Jaiku and Identi.ca. This can be great for

Two years ago, Jaiku and Twitter were neck and neck in the "What are you doing?" micro-blogging services race. Twitter carried on its own road, while Finnish service Jaiku was bought by Google. The feeling then was that Google had a winner in their hands as long as they followed through with their intentions. History records that Jaiku hit a brick wall while Twitter became the poster child of the ...

Just got an email from Nokia Beta Labs stating that FriendView is closing. No word on whether well see this continue at some near future point integrated into maps or whether its just dead. Frendview was an interesting service and for a brief time overlapped with my friends from Jaiku. Of course those friends were

Viigo Beta Adds Full Multiple Account Twitter Client to their Free BlackBerry App Viigo just added a new channel to their app that makes it into a full Twitter client. It also supports Friendfeed, Jaiku, and Identi.ca but those are not as widely used. You can setup multiple Twitter accounts so you always stay in the loop. It is not as intuitive as a full blown Twitter client

Developer Challenge - Google Reader Application As one of the most connected persons in my physical entourage, there are 3 services I am always checking and that help me keep in touch: Gmail, Twitter (previously Jaiku) and Google Reader. Of course, I also use phone calls, SMS, IM, Facebook, Flickr… but those are either redundant with the first ones, either less

This past week, the social networking service Jaiku had undergone a major upgrade. Unfortunately, one of the things lost in this upgrade happened to be one of my favorite features - feed aggregation. Essentially, you could have a place where all your favorite feeds came in and then comment on them with others. Now, I took that I idea and created the MMM Jaiku Channel, which pulled together a slew ...
