Sierra Wireless has decided to pull the plug on its plans to acquire wireless networking firm CradlePoint. The company said that certain conditions were supposed to be met prior to closing and one of those conditions had not been met so the deal is off. Sierra announced last April that it would buy CradlePoint in a $30.2 million cash and stock deal. The company expects to book $700,000 in expenses

Congratulations to my new favorite tech gadget company Cradlepoint for today's acquisition by Sierra Wireless. Sierra Wireless expands their product offerings from wireless data cards and embedded modules which provide connectivity to mobile networks from PCs. My Cradlepoint PHS-300 also called a “Personal Wi-Fi Hotspot” is used to connect my Nokia N95 GSM device to

I love my PHS300. Being able to go out and having internet whenever I need it is really liberating. Of course there is one drawback; I'm talking about the battery life. I've found that typically I get 90 to 120mins connected time before my PHS300 battery gives up. Battery life is decent but it's not

As time goes by, more and more personal devices are able to connect to the internet. Devices like your iPod, laptops, phones, etc. With the exception of phones, the connection of choice seems to be WiFi. Now it's cool when you're at home where you have WiFi but when you're out you won't always have internet

Merely months after cranking out the CTR-350, CradlePoint has upped the ante with the even more portable PHS300. This bugger enables a selection of handsets and USB cellular modems to create a "personal WiFi hotspot," and unlike its sibling, this one sports a built-in Li-ion to keep the connection alive (for a few hours, anyway) where there's no AC outlet in sight. Furthermore, you'll find WEP / WPA security features, an integrated firewall and the ability to charge up your phone via USB if necessary. Sound like just the thing you need? If so, you can drop your pre-order in now for $179.99 and patiently await the December 20th ship date. CradlePoint, Inc., announced today the availability of the PHS300, a pocket-size, battery powered, Personal Hotspot (PHS) that lets mobile broadband subscribers extend Internet access to any WiFi enabled device and share connectivity with friends and colleagues. Powered by CradlePoint's unique WiPipe(TM) technology, the PHS300 is highly intuitive and requires no special software to enable easy broadband access via WiFi on PC's, PDA's, MP3 players, game devices, etc. Similar in function to a home router, when combined with a 3G USB Cellular modem or 3G handset, the PHS automatically generates a secure, personal hotspot that follows subscribers wherever they go within coverage of their mobile broadband network. With the PHS300, customers can:
